Well perhaps not the smartest but at least he came around to the other side. I remember a time when he and Tipper were busy censoring the record industry…ala Dead Kennedy’s???

Let us keep in mind that the censorship was Tipper Gore’s intiative, not necessarily Al Gore’s. The PMRC was her brainchild, and in hindsight (and in all fairness) if the dissertation is read carefully, one can see that her organization was ultimately attempting to get labels on music just like there are ratings on movies. Unfortunately she let emotion get in the way of her initial objective and she started a whirlwind that at times often sounded like vehement censorship and started a massive battle with artists.
However I still support Al Gore as one of the Smartest politician’s ever regardless of who he chose for a wife. Without his and Dr R K Pachauri work (which earned them the Nobel Peace Prize, the sustainable initiative wouldn’t be a tenth of what it is today.
And I still detest his wife for the manner in which she attacked the artists in the music industry. But we forgive her since she has since disappeared!
